Company Profile

Seattle Diving Company is a provider of subsea construction, inspection and dive operation support services worldwide, with a focus on ROV, surface air, and mixed gas applications.  Through the expertise developed in managing subsea operations, Seattle Diving Company serves our clients by providing engineering and project management services to compliment the “hands on” services.  Seattle Diving Company’s business offerings also include specialty services, such as environmental diving and remediation services for the American Pacific Northwest market.

For the company to do well, we believe everyone must do well – clients, employees, business partners, the community.  We require our employees to perform to the satisfaction of the customer.  The company, itself, performs to the high expectations of its employees and business partners.

Background and History

Founded in 2003, Seattle Diving Company has grown from being a small environmental diving firm in Seattle to a diversified, subsea service organization serving customers in the North and South America, Asia, Africa, and Europe.  Seattle Diving Company achieved this growth organically by careful planning and execution of incrementally complex projects.

Seattle Diving Company is a registered trade name of Seattle Diving Corporation, a privately-held Washington State corporation based in Seattle, Washington.

HSE

SDC’s main focus is the safety, health and well being of its team members, contractors, clients and the public. No job is so urgent that it cannot be done in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. SDC fosters an atmosphere that focuses on prevention of incidents and protection of the environment. Safety will never be compromised.

Safety as a Core Value

SDC believes that each person must give health and safety issues the same amount of attention, effort and importance that is placed on production, quality, and costs.  While priorities shift based upon the needs of the business, core values do not change.  This is consistent with our approach that safety is our number on ethic and will not be compromised.

Health Safety and Environmental Management System

For Seattle Diving Company, the HSE program is not about statistics.  HSE is about keeping people safe and healthy, minimizing our environmental impact, and delivering a solid service, the first time, every time.

Promoting a company culture where HSE is managed as a priority is also the right way to do business. Strong HSE programs, procedures and behaviors minimize risks, lower costs, and create value for the Company as well as for our clients and partners.

Seattle Diving Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental programs are integrated into the management system.  Our system is on track to receive the ISO 9001 certification by the end of 2011.

DiveOps Program

DiveOps is SDC’s online HSE Module designed to automate many of our processes and tracking mechanisms.  Designed for use in our job locations, DiveOps records and documents potential hazards as well as proactively recognizes personnel for safe behaviors.

DiveOps allows us to create records of:

  • Safety Meetings
  • Job Safety Environmental Analysis (JSEA) Worksheets
  • Occurance Reports (accidents, injuries, close-call, equipment damage reports)
  • Stop Card Observance

Normally held at the beginning of a shift or job, a safety meeting is a proactive, and required, meeting to bring emphasis and awareness of potential job hazards during the day.
A Job Safety Environmental Analysis Worksheet is a means of capturing the data gathered during a meeting designed to identify potential risks and hazards before any significant undertaking during the course of the day. JSEAs are reviewed and analyzed at the beginning of each task.

Safety Incident Reports document incidents and near hits to personnel and/or equipment that have the potential for further injury or damage should corrective action not be taken.
Stop Observances are a behavioral modification process designed to identify, bring attention to and record unsafe practices as they occur and correct them. It also allows the proactive identification of safe practices during our daily routines and recognizes individuals for their safe behavior.

The DiveOps module can be accessed from the Employee Access, the Client Access, or the Project Access sites.

Safety Training

Seattle Diving Company invests in our employee’s safety. Safety training and/or orientation are verified and checked against our customer’s specific requirements before a crew member is deployed to all jobs.

Safety training subjects which SDC promotes and embraces include:

  • Water Survival
  • Safe Gulf
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Hazard Identification and Correction
  • Personal Protective Equipment

  • Fall Protection
  • Eye Safety
  • Machine Guarding
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Hearing Conservation
  • Rigging Safety
  • Hand and Power Tools Safety
